Fins unicum: in een jaar tijd geen enkele verkeersdode in Helsinki
In Helsinki, there were no traffic fatalities in the past year, marking a significant achievement attributed to factors such as strict speed limits, improved pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, and effective traffic enforcement, making it possibly the first EU capital to reach this milestone. In contrast, Amsterdam, which has a higher population density, reported 44 traffic deaths in 2024, despite implementing more 30-kilometer speed zones that led to a reduction in accidents.
