In Mali, the jihadist group JNIM, linked to al-Qaida, has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks primarily targeting military sites, resulting in an unknown number of casualties and the reported capture of three barracks. The Malian army has stated that they killed eighty attackers in response, amidst ongoing struggles with increasing extremist violence and ineffective counterterrorism efforts.
